I’ve devised this offbeat little survey as a way to serve the burgeoning field of doubt studies, of which I consider myself a devoted student.
Surveys show that surveys never lie.
--Natalie Angier
Please waste five minutes and take it (anonymously).
Why?
Because:
(a) It may amuse you. And who doesn’t like to be amused?
(b) You may discover something new about yourself. And who doesn’t pine for self-knowledge?
(c) You will make an invaluable contribution to human wisdom. Is that noble enough for you?
Speaking selfishly, I’m terribly curious about how doubt literally feels to other people: its shape, weight, presence. Some of the survey questions attempt to get at that, however superficially.
I’m hoping—and this may be a lot to ask—that the aggregate results will spark revelations that I can then share with all of you. And wouldn’t that be delightful! Wouldn’t that just make your day?
Perhaps, too, I will go down in history as someone who made an invaluable contribution to the field of doubt studies. That would be really neat—for me, more than for you. But I think we both win in the end.
So, I’ve made my ask. Now it’s your turn. Admittedly, these are five minutes of your life you’ll never get back. But the same could be said of playing Minecraft or watching Below Deck.
Thanks in advance. Here’s the link again. (And do feel free to share it!)
P.S. Do New Year’s resolutions give you the willies? Don’t miss next week’s Doubt Monster!
I loved this so much -- AND fair warning, it will take you longer than 5 minutes to read my ramblings!
